Tenant-Before-5

Before photos, showing condition of property after she left.

No running water because they took the water heater and the plumbing is all disconnected under the house.

The tenant reportedly moved to Michigan (from Arkansas) with family.  She used to say, “my house may be messy, but I keep my kids clean.”   No, no she doesn’t.  Those poor children were living, eating, sleeping, and breathing in the midst of animal feces, fly, mice, rat, and wasp infestations, and rotting garbage – the bathtub has a large hole in the bottom, and others in the area report she was raising animals in it much of the time she lived here.  Her son had a social worker assigned for a time, DHS (Dept. of Human Services) was repeatedly called, and she and her boyfriend were (at least once) arrested for fighting and had to attend parenting and anger management classes as part of their probation.  How does she still have custody of her children?

She was supposed to clean up her credit and save enough to pay closing costs to have mortgage put in her name.  I would have still been liable had she stopped paying the mortgage, but was willing to do that so she and her kids could have a home.  I shouldn’t have bothered – instead of trying to be kind and trusting she was taking care of the place, I should have treated her more like a regular tenant and been inspecting the property.  Lesson well learned.

Hope the family she is moving in with know she’s bringing livestock with her – I hear she took the ducks and chickens in the moving van.” - D. Evans

You should post a pic of the pig that left that mess. I’ll wager she’s hideous.

If she was your neighbor AND tenant, why didn’t you do something before she left your property in this condition?

    • Gammaof2

I agree. I can’t believe a landlord would not say shit after seeing their property in this condition

    • LadyScot

Probably because the law always sides with the destructive tenant. It takes a minimum of 3 months to evict a tenant in nearly every state in this country, and that is AFTER the landlord takes the cretin to court, who by the way is getting NO rent and having to foot the bills before and after the court case.

Place looks like a shithole even after you “cleaned it up”.

Animals like this should be shot.

The before and after photos are mis-labeled and the true before images are very few.

What a shame. I so miss having a home of my own. Sometimes homes get messy when the person is physically or mentally ill, and has no control over his or her situation.

I get tired of “perfect” people with “Perfect” lives and “perfect” homes, expecting everyone to be just like them. That is both unreasonable and unrealistic.

That said, this doesn’t sound like a case of someone suffering from sickness, injury, old age and/or severe depression. This sounds like someone who is genuinely lazy.

Sometimes, in the REAL world (life is not a TV series), people get to the extreme mess stage, because the person might feel helpless, having lost control of his or her life, where one bad thing leads to another. But trashing the place like that? There’s no excuse for doing that. None. .Messes can be cleaned up. But physical damage? That’s a no-no.

I’d give anything to have a home of my own, it’s a shame this person had to trash it. She certainly didn’t appreciate what she had.

My husband is a diabetic and a heart patient, and still manages to keep our home and yard clean. Screw the excuses. There is NO excuse for destroying someone else’s property. None.
