I won’t claim to be an expert on electricity, but that looks like a major hazard. I’m thinking we should send a Shame Notice to the fire department on this one… only a matter of time before they get a call!

The power company is responsible for running the lines to the house. – they obviously wouldn’t do this. Someone familiar with tapping the lines at the pole wanted some free electricity. Common practice in third world countries.

  It’s not an electrical line. See the three twisted lines going to the house and then down to the meter? That’s an electrical line.

Agreed. It’s definitely either television cable or a telephone line. It’s quite easy to figure that out since the line does not go to the electric meter.
