“BEAR-LY” MADE THE CUT

Bear-ly-Made-The-Cut

Lawn Ornaments. Many consider all of them tacky while others think a few well-placed lawn ornaments can add a lot of character to a home. What do you think of these lawn ornaments? Shameful or no?

The lawn decorations look fine, and I like the setup they did with the bears. It’s the 85 hanging baskets and potted plants that are overkill.

It’s a house in Maine that doesn’t have three dozen wrecked cars, trash and a gate made out of police tape strung between two plastic lawn chairs. The grass isn’t even excessively long. What’s to criticize here?

It’s not to my taste, but it does look nice and seems to be well kept. Nice job.

I agree with BB on this point. The bears are great but if you want a lot of flowers, I think it’s look better in one large spot rather than a lot of small pots.

I like it. Not exactly to my taste, but certainly not tacky. And thank Heaven it isn’t a flock of pink flamingoes! (Or around Baltimore, purple ones.)

Tacky, but not shameful. The place appears to be well cared-for. I’d rather live next doot to this than some tumble-down dump with a yard full of garbage and junked vehicles.

I’ll agree with all…not tacky, not distasteful…and considering it’s Maine, THEY ARE NOT REAL!

Nothing wrong with this, Looks fine.

  • Dagashi

/agree with all the of the above.
    It’s fine.

Looks fine to me. At least for a change it’s a cheerful, happy place and not a depressing, ugly place that is usually shown on Neighbor Shame.

The problem I think is that there is no consistent theme to the yard. The house and garden are done in light, pastel tones with a heavy emphasis on a flower-cottage theme. By contrast, the bears, while charming, are heavy, dark, metal, lodge or Black Forest themed elements. The gazing ball is in a modernistic style, but placed upon a pedestal with a whimsical theme. The angel-looking sculpture against the house is in a rustic country style. There even appears to be a small chimenea on the porch with a Southwestern theme. An eclectic look is difficult to pull together.
