MAN SUES NEIGHBOR OVER BARKING DOG AND WINS $500,000

Dog-Sued-For-Barking

Cawper barks. This dog who lives in North Seattle woofs and yaps, sometimes for a good amount of time. He’s a dog. Barking happens. But does he engage in “raucously, wildly bellowing, howling, and explosive barking,” as his neighbor claims in his 36-page court complaint?

Is he capable of barking at 128 decibels through double-pane windows, as is printed in this same 36-page complaint? Moreover, is Cawper “intentionally inflicting emotional distress” on said neighbor, who is suffering “profound emotional distress” over the barking or so he claims in his 36-page masterpiece? Have we mentioned that this neighbor’s complaint is 36 crazy pages long, over a barking dog?

In any event, this neighbor did in fact file this behemoth of a complaint over Cawper’s yapping, according to KOMO News, and he sued Cawper’s owner, Denise Norton. And he won half a million dollars!

How? Well, a trick of a judicial system is that when someone sues you and you get served papers, you have to show up to court. Otherwise, well …  “You can bring a frivolous lawsuit and win if the other side doesn’t show up,” civil attorney Mike Fandel told KOMO News. And that’s what Cawper’s owner did — she didn’t show up. And her neighbor was given a default judgment because his claims went unchallenged, according to KOMO.

“In my head, everything was so bogus that he’d been doing, I don’t know why, I just didn’t think it was real or something,” Norton said. It was a costly oversight, and it became very real once the Sheriff showed up dropped the hammer. “The Sheriff comes, puts the papers on the garage and the wall and everything and saying they were going to put the house up for sale,” Norton said.

And so began the long process of trying to unravel the judgment before she loses her house. Norton has hired lawyers and made many trips to court, but thus far she’s gotten nowhere, though a court date is pending.

SHARED LAWN NEIGHBOR DISPUTE

Crazy-Neighbors

“We lived in the upper half of a duplex and our crazy neighbors piled every piece of tacky crap into our shared lawn as you can imagine. Small wire fences, barrel pots, arches, ceramic deer and even a pink flamingo (not pictured). Not only that, but they were awful to live above. They called the police on us twice for “walking loudly.”

HASH OIL EXPLOSION: ‘HUGE FIRE BOMBS… IT WAS CRAZY’

Puyallup

PUYALLUP (WA.) – A 20-year-old man has been booked into jail for the suspected hash oil making operation that set off numerous explosions outside of a Puyallup home Tuesday night.

He’s facing several charges, including reckless endangerment. Police and fire department crews responded to multiple reports of explosions in the 1500 block of Shaw Road just before 11 p.m. Tuesday.

“There were huge fire bombs,” said Morris Hernandez, a neighbor. “I mean massive.  Yeah, it was crazy.” Police found the part of the house on fire and multiple explosions going off  in the driveway area, Capt. Scott Engle reported.  There were numerous people at the home at the time of the fire and explosions. Several people fled  the home as more police arrived.

Police said the people at the home had constructed a huge marijuana drug lab in their yard, using hundreds of cans of butane gas that blew up, with some landing up to 100 feet away. “The dangers of these is just out of this world,”said Engle. Drug agents tells us it’s the largest hash oil lab they’ve found, and they’ve seen plenty this year, with explosions and fires that have rocked neighborhoods around the state.

Despite the fire and explosion, no one was hurt, Engle said. Still, Morris Hernandez is troubled by the news of the hash lab so close to his property and what it means for the future. “I’m concerned for the community. I’m not sure the passing of this marijuana law is the best thing. I think it’s opened up a lot of doors.”
